ButterPaper is operated by Longhouse Ventures LLC. These terms govern your use of butterpaper.app and the ButterPaper application.
ButterPaper is a drawing and estimating tool. You load a survey, plat, aerial photograph or screenshot as a background, set a scale by identifying a dimension you already know, and draw a site plan over it. From what you draw it calculates areas, parking counts, coverage ratios and a quantity takeoff priced at unit rates you supply.
It is a conceptual planning tool. It is not engineering.
Nothing ButterPaper produces is a survey, a construction document, a permit-ready drawing, or professional engineering, architectural or surveying work. Nothing it produces is prepared, reviewed or sealed by a licensed professional.
Every measurement depends on a scale you set yourself by clicking two points and typing a distance. If that reference is wrong, short, or imprecise, every dimension, area and cost on the drawing is wrong in proportion — and because areas are squared, a small error in the scale becomes a much larger error in square footage and in cost.
You are responsible for verifying anything you rely on. Before using ButterPaper output to price work, make an offer, seek financing, or submit anything to a public authority, have it checked by a qualified professional.
Signing in uses a link sent to your email address; there is no password. Keep access to that mailbox secure, because anyone who can read it can sign in as you. You must be at least 18 and provide an accurate email address. You are responsible for activity under your account.

Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never receive or store your card details. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax that may apply.
You may cancel at any time. Cancellation stops future renewals and your access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for — we do not cut off access on the day you cancel.
Monthly payments are generally not refunded, since cancelling ends renewal and you keep the remainder of the period. If ButterPaper does not work as described, or you are charged in error, write to us and we will make it right. Annual plans cancelled within 30 days of purchase may be refunded on request.
We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice by email. A change takes effect at your next renewal, and you may cancel before then.
Site plans, drawings, background images and cost data you create or upload remain yours. We claim no ownership of them and do not use them to train anything or to develop other products.
Most of your work never reaches our servers at all. Project files save to your own device, and background images stay in your browser. What we hold is described in the Privacy Policy.
If you send feedback and choose to attach your plan, you grant us permission to use that attachment to investigate the issue you reported. Attachments are geometry only — background images are removed before sending.
We do not promise uninterrupted availability. ButterPaper depends on third party infrastructure and may be unavailable for maintenance, faults, or reasons outside our control. Because project files save to your own device, an outage does not put your existing work out of reach.
ButterPaper is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that outputs are accurate, complete, or suitable for any purpose, nor that the service will be error free.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Longhouse Ventures LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost opportunities, or costs incurred in reliance on ButterPaper output — including decisions to buy, sell, price, finance or build.
Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. For free-tier users, that amount is zero.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
You agree to indemnify Longhouse Ventures LLC against claims arising from your use of ButterPaper, from material you upload, or from your reliance on its output in dealings with third parties.
You may stop using ButterPaper at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, or where we are required to. If we terminate your account without cause, we refund the unused portion of any prepaid period.
We may update these terms. Material changes will be notified by email to account holders at least 30 days before they take effect. Continuing to use ButterPaper after that means you accept the new terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict of law rules. The courts of Bexar County, Texas have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
